NMBS picks iO as innovation partner and service design expert

The partnership will increase user comfort and travel pleasure.

The National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS/SNCB) recently chose blended agency iO as its innovation partner. Over the next two years, iO will support the company’s innovation lab in developing and implementing innovative ideas to improve user comfort and travel pleasure.

The NMBS innovation lab is responsible for launching novelties that solve problems for train passengers and improve their overall experience. Over the past four years, the lab accomplished over 50 proof of concepts, 20 of which have been successfully implemented. After a recent pitch, the railway company chose iO as its new innovation partner.

In this role, iO will assist the company in further developing and rolling out possible innovation projects through service design and AI processes.

“We are delighted to be working with NMBS over the next two years to achieve its innovation objectives”, says Dries Steyaert, Business Lead at iO. “We look forward to deploying our expertise in innovation processes, UX and service design, and technological know-how to offer travellers more user comfort.”

With this new partnership, iO continues strengthening its position as an innovation partner and service design expert in the market. The company remains committed to building pioneering customer experiences that address the needs of our changing world.
