iO appoints Marco Merola as Managing Director on Campus Herentals 

Marco Merola will head the newly appointed management of the iO campus in Herentals. 

There’s been an evolution in the management team of blended agency iO's Herentals campus. Marco Merola, who was until recently Service Line Director Marketing, will be the new Managing Director. Tim Elsen, the former Managing Director, will take charge of business and operations across all Belgian campuses as Business Operations Director.

The new Managing Director of iO Campus Herentals is Marco Merola, a familiar face to many. He started as an intern at iO in 2017 and grew to become Service Line Director Marketing. Bas Jespers (Country Director iO Belgium) is thrilled about Merola's appointment: 

"Marco's new role perfectly illustrates what iO stands for: growth opportunities for our people, an unrelenting focus on clients, and in-depth business knowledge. I have full confidence in Marco as Managing Director, and I firmly believe that together with the updated management team and all our experts, he will continue to deliver solid work for our clients," he says. 

Solid management team with trusted faces 

As Managing Director, Merola will be supported by the campus management team. Jeff Maes (Service Line Director Technology) and Jessica Holt (Client Services Director) will continue in their current roles. 

The rest of the management team has also been with iO for a while. Glenn Weuts will become Service Line Director Marketing, Bob De Kinder will direct strategy, content, and design as Experience Design Director, and Noortje Kuppens will start as Director Delivery & Services Technology. 

A strong start to 2024 

With new projects for clients like Brussels Airport, Primagaz, Alphabet, Bebat, and Tom & Co, 2024 is already off to a strong start. And that's good news for the 200-plus experts working at Campus Herentals. 

"This campus is buzzing with energy. We got off to a strong start in 2024, and we have a lot of interesting events coming up. On 8 February, for instance, we're organising an inspiring meetup for which frontend experts should definitely sign up," said the brand-new Managing Director.
