Netherlands Gambling Authority (Ksa) partners up with iO to develop digital backbone for clear public information 

Helping 7 out of 10 Dutch citizens gamble more safely thanks to clear guidance and information on intranet and public websites 

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, Ksa) is partnering with iO for the next seven years. The leading digital agency will deliver the digital backbone behind Ksa's intranet and websites, including kansspelautoriteit.nl and openovergokken.nl. Using the "Drupal voor overheden" platform creates an accessible digital ecosystem that provides Dutch citizens, municipalities and gaming operators with information quickly and effectively. 

Digital support to tackle gambling market risks 

Nearly seven out of ten Dutch people gambled last year(1), with a third actively gambling online or in person – excluding lotteries. One in five online gamblers shows risky behaviour, rising to more than one in three on illegal gambling sites. These figures highlight the importance of clear public information and accessible support through trusted digital channels. 

One platform for prevention and education ​ 

To strengthen its mission of safe gambling, iO is working with Ksa to build a strategic platform based on "Drupal voor overheden". This open-source solution, which iO developed for public organisations, has already been successfully deployed across more than 30 public bodies. It will enable Ksa to streamline its information provision and better reach target audiences. 

The partnership starts with integrating four existing websites into one manageable platform. In 2026, this will expand to personalised online services through portal sites. This strengthens Ksa's dialogue with people seeking help, municipalities enforcing regulations, and businesses applying for licences. 

Fast and efficient stakeholder communication 

iO offers digital expertise that goes beyond technology. This allows Ksa to use digital experience as a proactive and strategic tool in the fight for safe gambling.
